Plant introduction:

Camellia oleifera, commonly known as camellia, wild tea, and white flower tea, is a unique oil plant in China and the most important oil tree species in the low hilly areas of the south of the Yangtze River in China. It has been cultivated for more than two thousand years. Camellia oleifera seeds can be used to extract oil, and the oil content of the seed kernel can reach 59.2%, which is one of the plants with the highest oil production in China. It is known as "Oriental Olive Oil", and even some ingredients have higher indicators than olive oil. Widely distributed in the provinces south of the Yangtze River in China. Hunan Province is known as the "Hometown of Camellia Camellia" and is the province with the most planting in China.

Camellia oleifera is as high as 4 to 6 meters, generally 2 to 3 meters. Bark light brown, smooth. Single leaves alternate, leathery, elliptic or ovate-elliptic, with finely serrated edges, 3-10 cm long, 1.5-4.5 cm wide,. Flowers terminal or axillary, bisexual, white, 6-9 cm in diameter, petals obovate, often bilobed at the top. Capsule spherical, oblate, olive-shaped, 3-4 cm in diameter, with thick and lignified petals, containing seeds. Seeds are dark brown or black, triangular and shiny.

Active ingredient:

Seeds contain triterpene saponins: oleiferone. After hydrolysis, camelliagenin A, theasapogenol A and B, D-glucuronic acid, D-glucose, D-galactose ), D-xylose (D-xylose), angelic acid (angelic acid), crotonic acid (tiglic acid), α-methylbutyric acid (α-methylbutyric acid).

Tea saponin is a sugar-like compound extracted from the seeds of the Theaceae plant, which belongs to saponins and is a plant-based non-ionic surfactant. After testing, tea saponin has good emulsifying, dispersing, foaming, moisturizing and other functions, and the tea saponin product is light yellow fine powder.
